It's not like Pipewire does a lot of magic that Jack cannot do (at least not that I've found), but for me it feels like a carefree solution that solves a lot of small concerns I'v gotten used to over the years with Jack. And I can even use one device for input (my laptop microphone) and another device for output (my audio interface).Ĥ/ I don't really have to care whether something is a Jack application anymore, it'll show up in the patchbay anyway. With Pipewire it's not a concern I have anymore. I've often been able to make it work, but sometimes it's been quite a hassle. Especially if I want to present some sound material. With no risk of having to reboot (which typically have been my case with Jack).ģ/ Jack has often been a challenge when it comes to Teams/Zoom/Skype etc for me. With Pipewire it doesn't matter if you pull out your cable too soon or by accident. If I push my computer too hard on too low latencies etc. Not just does it save me some time, but the threshold for recording an extra layer or fixing something quick is really reduced for me.Ģ/ Jack stops. With Pipewire I go to MB32C's Audio/Midi setup, change buffersize. And then after the recording repeat this pattern to increase buffersize again. Get in uncomplicated, work with channel strips etc and without hitting a ton of buttons or requiring a degree in programming to become working.

So I've typically had to quit MB32C, stop jack, reduce buffer size, restart Jack, restart MB32C. IMHO Harrison Mixbus would be doing themselves a huge plus if they fully integrated MCU support and documented it properly so the user knows how to apply all the features. When I wish to record something, this brings too much latency. Some things I really like about Pipewire (compared to Jack, which I've used for about 10 years):ġ/ When working in MB32C, I usually have a buffersize of 1024 samples. So I'm just talking about my own usage, in a studio with an audio interface and when I'm simply working on my laptop with headphones.

Yea, I don't know anything about network, as I have an entirely cabled setup. So far I haven't found a single reason to switch to Hypewire. (06-14-2022, 04:17 PM)madmaxmiller Wrote: What about network capability? Between different OS/architectures?
